Police in Mzimba are hunting for Information Journalist Jeremia Mphande aged above 30 for allegedly defiling a 15 year old girl that happens to be his wife’s younger sister of whom he was staying with.
According to Mzimba Police Deputy Publicist John Nyirongo on Wednesday 27 /01/2021 the wife to the accused reported the matter to police by telling law enforcers that she caught her husband in the middle of act with under age younger sister.
After receiving the report, police investigators went straight to the accused house at St Paul’s (a location within Mzimba boma) only to find that the suspsct had run away.
Medical examination conducted at Mzimba district hospital revealed that the girl was indeed defiled.
The suspect on the run is working as Mzimba district reporter for Malawi News Agency having joined the ministry of Information in 2013.
Ironically, the suspect has been working on part time basis as child rights advocacy and producer for end gender based violence programs, a project that falls under spotlight Initiative and Mzimba community radio is the broadcaster.
