“Cobra” is one of the songs from his unreleased 7 track EP titled “Changes” scheduled to drop this year.

“I am an artist of the modern dancehall genre because of the environment I grew up in. I grew up in Chinsapo which is one of the places where reggae and dancehall music dominates other genres. This made me to choose dancehall,” he explains.

Mafia King started music when he was at Zomba Police Secondary School where he got discovered through the love and passion he had for music.

His very first hit that had people to notice him was “Know We Bad” which he featured Ka Sir Blanca aka Chargie in the year 2018.

Mafia King was inspired by artists like Green Ghost, Mafunyeta, Chronixx, Nigga Bea, Vybz Kartel, Treavor Waguan and Blak Foxie. He now looks up to artists like Masicka, Chronic Law, Anselmo Ralph, Stonebwoy, Sean Paul and Nutty O.

Real name Joshua Mtima Mkhalipi, the Mafia in Mafia King is an acronym which stands for “MAN OF FAITH IN AMEN” (Amen meant God back in the ancient days)

“King because I am black as it is said that Black is King,” he says.

Mafia King went attended GUFE University in China and he is a holder of a Bachelors Degree in International Trade & Economics.
