13 finalists battle for Miss Culture Malawi top 5 in grand finale

13 finalists are currently battling it out ahead of the Miss Culture Malawi beauty pageant grand finale slated for Amaryllis Hotel on June 26 in Blantyre, Malawi’s commercial capital.

Courtesy of Lush Africa, the organisers of the Africa Fashion and Arts Festival (AFAF) and Amaryllis Hotel, the event will select Malawi’s representative to the global event that Miss Culture International will be hosting in South Africa in September this year.

Miss Culture Malawi currently has an ongoing social media voting which will propel the winner straight into the top five of the competition.”We are excited about Malawi participating in this first competition with the rest of the world. Being part of the core international organising team gives me pride that we are not being left behind.

“We already have the 13 finalists from all corners of Malawi eager to participate inthe Malawian edition of the showpiece, and they are as stunning as any you will ever see,” Lorraine Kljajic, Director of Lush Africa and CEO of Miss Culture International reiterated.

The 13 participants include Mavis Matola, Malumbo Mtonga, Mwasalika Mfune, Leticia Bwanausi, Roberta Kanjelo, Tawina Lifukwe, Mpenya Namoyo, Nyanjura Germano, Tamara Chirwa, Monica Mwanika, Murimu Kachitsa, Bongiwe Mtambo and Eta Chirwa.

“Despite the continued Covid 19 Pandemic environment, life must carry on and we must be part of trying to restore it as people know it,” Director of Lush Africa and CEO of Miss Culture International, based in South Africa, Lorraine intimated when asked why the decision to host the event now.

“We will adhere to all compliance protocols to ensure everybody’s health safety,” she dispensed with the anticipated fears upfront.The competition will consist of 5 key categories to promote Malawian Designers in line with Lush Africa’s vision.

Sports Wear sponsored by Lily Alfonso, Malawi’s top Designer, Office wear sponsored by PY Designs Africa, Swimwear sponsored by Ngugi International, a former Miss Malawi Second Princess, Evening gowns, Malawian Culture inspired wear to be worn for the final judging.

“We still have corporate sponsorship packages available for companies looking for opportunities for the winner to play the role of ambassador for their products or services,” Lorraine provided the opportunity to progressive corporates.

There are three options for tickets – standard (MK15,000) and VIP (MK25,000) and VVIP (MK100,000). The tickets will go on sale soon and attendees can purchase these at Amaryllis on May 28. VVIP tickets include welcoming cocktails drinks, buffet dinner and one night’s accommodation at Amaryllis.
